Gott Fire Department covers 37 square miles and serves approximately 6,200 citizens.
There are twenty-five Firefighters, seven Board Members and one Treasurer.

To know Ryan was to be swept into the whirlwind of his gigantic personality, his humor, his love, and his ability to drive you absolutely nuts – often all at once.
In Memory of Ryan James Penrose

Ryan James Penrose, 44, of Bowling Green, passed away on February 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted husband to Karmen and proud father to Sophia, Luke, and Samantha (Ian) Bartlett, Ryan brought energy, humor, and heart into everything he did. His light burned bright, and his presence filled every room he walked into.
Ryan served the Gott Fire Department with passion and commitment. He co-founded Bigfoot Technology Group, loved classic cars – especially his ’66 Ford F-100 – flying, camping, and always had the perfect (or perfectly bad) joke for any moment.
He is survived by his children, wife, parents, brothers Shawn and David, and many dear friends and family. Ryan’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the laughter he shared.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Gott Fire Department or Wings of Hope, two causes that meant a great deal to him.
IN MEMORY OF Kyle Allen Hendrick

Firefighter Hendrick was the driver of a 1,500-gallon fire department tanker (tender) participating in a water shuttle drill. The passenger in the truck was a 17-year-old trainee. Neither Firefighter Hendrick nor the trainee was wearing a seat belt. As the tanker traveled down the road, the vehicle’s right wheels dropped off the roadway. Firefighter Hendrick overcorrected to the left and came back on the road, riding the centerline. He corrected again and went off the roadway on the right-hand side. The tank separated from the vehicle, and the cab came to rest on its top. Firefighter Hendrick was partially ejected from the vehicle. The trainee was fully ejected from the vehicle. Firefighter Hendrick was removed from the vehicle and transported to the hospital by ambulance. He was pronounced dead at the hospital approximately 1 hour after the collision. The trainee was severely injured.
Annual Nashville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb
Gott VFD participates in the annual Nashville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. The 343 Firefighters participating in the event wear full gear (from 60 to 80 pounds) and climb for someone specifically. Each climber is given a badge to wear with the name and photograph of one of the FDNY firefighters killed on 9/11/01.
100% of funds raised go to support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and are specifically earmarked to help families directly affected by 9/11/01.
